Walter Perez joined 6abc as an anchor and reporter for Action News in September of 2003. He has been the Weekend Evening Anchor at Channel 6 since 2013.

Walter came to WPVI-TV from WNBC in New York, where he was a reporter and weekend morning anchor. Prior to that, he worked as an anchor/reporter at WPLG in Miami but started his TV career at News 12 New Jersey.

Walter’s career in broadcasting started in radio though, co-hosting the very popular morning talk show on WCTC News-Talk Radio 1450AM in New Brunswick. He was also color commentator for the Princeton Football Radio Network for 5 years alongside Tom McCarthy who is now the TV voice of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Walter has accumulated numerous broadcast honors and awards along the way, including an Edward R. Murrow Award for spot news coverage of the World Trade Center disaster, a New York City Press Club Award, a New York State Broadcasters Award, and two New Jersey Associated Press Awards. He was also named one of the Most Influential Latinos in the Delaware Valley by Impacto Magazine.

During Walter’s illustrious career, he has interviewed leaders and dignitaries from all around the world. His list of one-on-one interviews includes discussions with Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, along with U.S. Senators John McCain, Pat Toomey and Bill Bradley. He even did a LIVE phone interview with the Reverend Desmond Tutu during the first free elections in South African history.

Walter was a scholar and an athlete in his youth as well. He was a scholarship member of the Duke University Football Team when the Blue Devils won the 1989 Atlantic Coast Conference championship under the leadership of head coach Steve Spurrier. Believe it or not, he was a 305 pound offensive guard!

A political science graduate from Duke, Walter and his wife, Rita, reside in Bucks County with their three beautiful children.
