Michael A. Colleran
Michael Colleran has been President and General Manager of the CBS Philadelphia duopoly stations -- CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly 57 (WPSG-TV) since March, 2005.
Colleran, who has strong roots in the Delaware Valley, returned to Philadelphia from Miami where he was most recently President and General Manager of Viacom’s South Florida stations -- WFOR-TV, the CBS station there and two UPN stations, WBFS-TV in Miami and WTVX-TV in West Palm Beach.
During Colleran’s tenure in Florida, all three stations showed remarkable growth in ratings, revenues and in their overall profile in the community. In fact, community service has been a hallmark of Colleran’s career. He has served on the boards of a number of philanthropic organizations including the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Diabetes Association.
In Philadelphia, he is a member of the Police Athletic League Board of Directors and serves on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Ad Club and the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Before coming to Viacom, Colleran was Director of Sales for KABC-TV Los Angeles, one of the top-billing stations in the country's second largest market. Colleran was instrumental in bringing a significant new business vision to KABC-TV during his nearly six years with the station.
Previously, he was Director of Sales for KYW-TV from 1993 through 1997. He was also Director of Sales East for ABC National Television Sales in New York, and held sales positions with WPVI-TV and KYW Newsradio, both in Philadelphia.
A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Colleran attended the University of Scranton where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He began his broadcasting career while in school at WWDL-FM in Scranton.
After graduation, Colleran was a high school English and History teacher and baseball coach for three years before beginning his broadcasting career. An avid runner, Colleran has competed in numerous city marathons including Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New York and San Diego. Colleran, his wife, Susan, an attorney, reside in in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
